As you know, Roe v. Wade is under attack and states like Texas and others are trying to use scare tactics to make it impossible for people to access to the support or healthcare they need to have a medically safe abortion. I am joining with the Jewish Community Relations Council of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin, Sonoma, Alameda and Contra Costa Counties (JCRC) in support of AB 1666 (Bauer-Kahan), which provides protection for those who seek an abortion, their healthcare providers, and the people in their support systems. As an elected leader in California, a reproductive-freedom state, we encourage you to vote to ensure California will take no part in these threats.

AB 1666 will prohibit an action from being brought in California courts to enforce any out-of-state law that would impose civil liability on a person seeking, receiving, performing, inducing, or aiding a person in obtaining an abortion. This bill will also prohibit the enforcement of a judgment rendered under in a non-California court that authorizes a person to bring a civil action against a person seeking, receiving, performing, inducing, or aiding a person in obtaining an abortion. This bill will also send a message the states that want to scare people that California will not join them.

We urge the California legislature to act swiftly to pass AB 1666 - California must support our rights and liberties and assure our state is a safe place.
